These instructions must be completed while in an area that is covered by the Wireless Oakland Network.

1.       If your computer has a built-in wireless card, right click on the wireless network connection icon on the Windows task bar.  If not, you must obtain a wireless card and install it in your computer

2.       Left click on "View Available Wireless Networks."

3.       Select "Wireless Oakland" from the Available Wireless networks box.

4.       Check the box Allow connection to unsecured network.
Note: Pre Service Pack 1 does not have a check box.

5.       Click the button that says connect.

6.       The wireless network connection icon should now show the connection.

7.       Open Internet Explorer and attempt to visit a webpage. Your browser will automatically redirect you to the Wireless Oakland Portal page to login.

8.       Click on "Register" in the Sign in section of the web page portal.

9.       Enter a username and password in the appropriate boxes.

10.   If the username is already used, you will be redirected back to the "Register" page to enter a new one.

11.   After you have created a username and password, you will be redirected to the portal Sign in page.

12.   Log in with your username and password.  You are now free to browse the internet!
