BILLING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the charge on my invoice for FUSF?

FUSF is the Federal Universal Service Fund. This is a fee assessed by the US Government on all interstate telecommunications services. This fee is used to ensure that affordable access to telecommunications services is available to schools and libraries, rural health care providers, telephone customers with low incomes, and telephone customers in areas where the cost of providing telephone services is high. MichTel is obligated to collect this fee from our customers.

For more information on FUSF charges, please see the FCC's Universal Service Home Page.

Who do I call with questions on my invoice?

Anyone in the Billing Department would be happy to help you. The phone number is 888-244-6381.

How do I pay for my MichTel account?

Upon signing up for any MichTel Internet Service, simply enter your Credit Card and your monthly fees will be charged automatically. There is no need to worry about due dates and/or mailing checks. You will receive an email each month reminding you that your Credit Card has been charged for your monthly service. As your Credit Card expires, please call the Billing Department with the new expiration to avoid any interruption of service. You may also pay online by visiting our User Services page.

Do I need to renew my service upon expiration?

There is no need to contact MichTel to renew your Internet account upon expiration. Our system automatically renews your Service. If you do not wish to renew your Internet Service, please call the Billing Department prior to renewal.

When is my credit card automatically charged for my Internet service?

Your credit card is automatically charged each month on the day that your service is due. You are sent an email on the date that your credit card is charged to let you know that you have paid for the next period of service. Fifteen days prior to your due date, you will receive an email invoice. If you prefer, a hard copy will be mailed to you instead.

What is the charge if I miss my DSL install appointment or need excessive inside wiring?

The fee for any missed appointment or extra inside wiring is $99.
